Privacy Policy — Sijil
Last updated: November 6, 2026
This page explains how Sijil, an Android app that records and transcribes meetings, lectures and interviews on your device, handles your data. Sijil is published by Trolley Studio (Muhammad Ashraf) under the package name com.trolley.sijil.
In short
- Sijil doesn't have permission to use the internet. Android doesn't let it send anything anywhere, and it has no servers.
- Your recordings, transcripts and summaries are made and kept on your device. We never receive them unless you choose to send them to us.
- No accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers.
- We don't collect, sell or share your data.
What Sijil keeps on your device
- Your notes: audio you record or import, transcripts, summaries, titles, speaker names, bookmarks and folders.
- Your dictionary of words and corrections, and your settings.
- Your plan: when you started using Sijil, how much free transcription time you've used this week, and whether you've bought Pro.
- Technical records: recent transcription and summary jobs in numbers only, such as when they ran, how long they took and whether they finished, plus whether your device's AI chip worked. They hold no audio, transcript text or note titles.
Sijil's files are private to the app. Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for Sijil, so your notes aren't copied to your Google account.
Sijil's home screen widget shows your latest note titles, and its notifications may show a note's title. Anyone who can see your screen may see these.
How transcripts and summaries are made
- Transcription runs on your device, using a speech model delivered once by Google Play.
- Speaker detection compares the voices in a recording on your device. Sijil keeps only which phrase belongs to which speaker. It doesn't save voiceprints or use them to identify anyone, and it doesn't compare voices between notes.
- Summaries are made on your device, in one of two ways. On some devices, Sijil runs a summary model delivered by Google Play. On others, Sijil passes the transcript to Gemini Nano, which runs on your device through AICore, a Google system service (see Google services).
Recording other people
You decide what Sijil records. Laws on recording conversations differ between places, and some require everyone's consent. It's your responsibility to follow the rules that apply to you.
When data leaves your device
Only when you send it, using another app of your choice. Sijil has no way to do it for you.
- Share and export: transcripts, summaries, audio and subtitles go where you choose, through Android's share menu or file picker. What happens to them then depends on the app or service you picked.
- Backups: Back up everything writes all your notes, audio and your dictionary to one file, saved where you choose. The file isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere safe. If you save it to a cloud folder, it's stored there under that service's terms.
- Files you bring in: when you import or share a file into Sijil, it copies that file. It can only reach the files you pick. It has no permission to browse your storage.
Reports and feedback
Send feedback and the report on the This device screen open your own email app, addressed to us. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and you can read a report in full first. Feedback fills in Sijil's version, your device's model, its Android version and its chip. A report contains:
- Sijil's version, your device's maker and model, its Android version, its chip, and its memory and free storage.
- Which engines Sijil is using, the status of its models, and technical error codes.
- Whether your device has paused Sijil in the background.
- Recent transcription and summary jobs: when they ran, the length of the audio or text, how long they took and how they ended.
Reports contain no audio, transcript text or note titles. When you email us, we receive your email address and anything you wrote. We use them only to reply and to look into the problem, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Google services
Some features are provided by Google on your device, under Google's privacy policy:
- Buying Sijil Pro (Google Play Billing): Google Play handles the purchase and your payment details; we never see them. Sijil only keeps a record of whether you've bought Pro.
- Models (Google Play): Google Play downloads Sijil's speech and summary models.
- Gemini Nano (AICore and ML Kit): on devices that support it, summaries run through AICore, part of Android on those devices, which also manages Gemini Nano's own download.
These libraries run inside Sijil but can't reach the internet from it either. Sijil talks to Google Play and AICore on your device, and they handle everything else.
Permissions
| Permission | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Recording, when you start it. |
| Notifications | Showing that a recording is running, and telling you when a transcript is ready. |
| Run in the foreground | Continuing to record and transcribe while you use other apps or the screen is off. |
| Prevent sleep | Keeping work going while the screen is off. |
| Run at startup | Picking up unfinished work after your device restarts. |
| Network state | Checking whether a connection is available for scheduled model downloads. It doesn't let Sijil use the internet. |
| AICore | Making summaries with Gemini Nano, on devices that support it. |
| Google Play billing | Buying Sijil Pro. |
Sijil does not request the internet permission, and it asks for no permission to read your storage, contacts, location or calendar.
Your choices
- Microphone and notifications: withdraw them at any time in Android's settings.
- A note or its audio: delete it in Sijil. You can also keep the transcript and delete only the audio, or have audio deleted after transcription.
- Everything: Delete all data in Settings removes every note, its audio, your dictionary and your settings. The models, your plan and the record of whether the AI chip worked stay until you uninstall Sijil, which deletes everything Sijil keeps on your device. Backup files you saved elsewhere aren't affected.
- Emails you sent us: write to us and we'll delete them.
Children
Sijil is a general-audience productivity app. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If Sijil ever starts collecting or sending data, we will update this page first and change the date at the top.
